The Soccer Net - The Mesh That Stops the Balls

"No more chasing the ball."

Without a soccer net, a soccer goal is just a big box. The balls won't stop. They would just make you chase them all over the place. So whether you have a local practice field or a backyard goal, a soccer net is a good investment.

Huh?

Just so you understand, the soccer net attaches to a frame that is the soccer goal. The mesh that you attach to that frame is what prevents having to chase balls all over the place during a practice or game. If the balls are going into the net.

Construction

Most soccer nets are made from polyethylene plastic or nylon cording. The diameter of the separate strands can range from 2mm to 5mm in diameter. This is the cord thickness. The holes, or openings in the mesh can range from 2.5 inches to 5 inches. The standard designs are either a honeycomb, (like the cereal), or square pattern.

Sizing

Because there are different sizes of soccer goals made for practice, pick-up, mini games, or full field games, there are different sizes of soccer nets. To ensure that you get the right size net heed the following guidelines:


Height - distance between the ground and the crossbar.
Width - distance between the 2 posts.
Top Depth - Distance from front crossbar to top corner of the frame.
Bottom Depth - distance from goal post to back crossbar on the ground.
Having these measurements accurate will help you get the right net right away. If you are unsure, always buy larger as you can double up the mesh if necessary.

What to Choose

A larger net made with a thicker cord will cost more up-front, but will last longer. If you think that this is not important, you may want to think again. A net will receive a lot of balls during a practice or during games. Each time a ball hits the net it will affect the mesh. And every game or practice is going to see some bodies getting tangled up in that mesh. It will all have its effect on how long the net will last. You can decide what is important to you. I suggest that if the player age is 12 or older you will need at least a 3mm cord.

Attachments


Most goals come equipped with clips or bars to fasten the net onto the frame.
For existing goals, clips can be bought separately and you can install them yourself.
Velcro-type strips are also available to wrap around the poles to fasten the net. But these will probably need to be replaced often.
You can use twine or rope but it is really a pain to cut and replace on a regular basis.
Some people suggest using bungee cords. I say NO! The hooks can be very dangerous if someone runs into them. I do not feel that they are safe enough.
Anchors


Many goals come with anchors or stakes to secure the mesh to the ground.
You should have an anchor system in place on all soccer goals.

Backup

As time passes and more balls and people go into the net, they get worn and eventually will tear. Therefore, it is a good idea to have an extra set of soccer nets on hand for when this happens. Being prepared is always a good idea.

Caution

You may not think it is dangerous but putting up a net can be just that. Be Careful. Watch your step and do not get your feet tangled in the mesh. One little twist the wrong way can cause a sprain or even a broken bone. I have seen it happen.

High quality artificial grass for FIFA

These artificial grass turf systems generally have an infill layer of rubber granules or particles, sometimes mixed with sand.

Many different aspects are involved in artificial grass manufacturer turf systems. These aspects include such things as: ball/surface interaction (vertical ball rebound, ball roll, etc.), player/surface interaction (such as deformation, slip resistance, traction, etc.), and also shock absorption and energy restitution.

The present invention aims to provide an improved artificial grass manufacturer turf carpet and an artificial grass turf system including such a carpet.

In particular, the present invention aims to provide an artificial grass manufacturer turf system highly suitable for sports, in particular for soccer, but also for American football, rugby and other ball or contact sports.
In an installed artificial grass manufacturer turf system having an infill layer on top of the base layer fibers grass, it is likely that some infill material will enter into the interstices between the base layer fibers and grass  fibers in the zone of the base layer. It is preferred that the density of the fibers in the base layer is such that when considering the volume of the base layer, the base layer volume contains less than about 30% of its volume, preferably less than about 20%, of infill material.
Also by using the weaving technique, a reliable locking can be obtained between the ground structure, on the one hand, and the base layer fibers and grass  fibers on the other hand. This avoids the problem of fibers coming loose from the turf system, as is experienced in prior art tufted artificial grass manufacturer carpets.

As youth coaches, we have to walk a fine line between getting what we want out of our players and making sure that they have some fun doing it. Some of that comes from your coaching attitude - which should be a lot like a parenting attitude: fun, but firm. We try to make these drills a competition between the players; with the losing group of players doing jumping jacks, push-ups, toe-jumps or another similar drill to get them in better shape to challenge for the next time. Argentina's Downfall: Bread and Circuses ... But No Change!

A short while ago the election of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner elevated her to the presidency of Argentina. Despite the overwhelming result that swept the first elected woman into office following her husband’s term as president, the country remains at a political crossroads. The politics and economics and self-interest of Argentina are hedged between leftist president Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and George Bush.





More evenly dispersed wealth and prosperity for Argentina does not have to be elusive. The country is rich in resources and there exists substantial demand for its goods. However, increased and more equal education seems indicated and overdue. A general pause by the country as a whole to assess the willingness to absorb the tradeoffs required to achieve a universal better state of living is more than overdue. Perhaps the new leader of Argentina will take that pause and properly act on that reflection..





After having spent nearly six months prior to the election in Argentina, one thing is certain. No matter how hard a new president may try to change matters, the facts seem to imply that the majority is too complacent to welcome any major change from the status quo, vociferous noises from a vocal minority notwithstanding. One young person was overheard to say in seeming jest, “What this country needs is a good war!” With the history of violence of several past governments, a wide gap between rich and poor, as well as ingrained cultural patterns spanning centuries, such complacency should not be unexpected.





Nonetheless, from an outsiders’ perspective, certain basics spell renewed disaster for the once-prosperous nation.





In a recent conversation with a bright, educated Argentine student, the young fellow seemed to think nothing of leaving his country. In his early twenties, he intends to live, study, work and earn overseas and save or invest his money in a country “that works.” Little thought was expressed as to the wide and growing gap between the prosperous and impoverished denizens of the Argentine landscape. He provided a perfectly good example that the dwindling middle class aspires only to join the “rich” as long as it can avoid sinking to the morass of “the poor.” The fact that Argentina’s problems have been even further exacerbated by more impoverished immigrants from Bolivia, Peru and other South American nations was explained away by suggesting that, in his view, “Argentina needs a labor pool willing to accomplish unskilled labor others are not willing to do.”





Whether one agrees with the young student’s perspective is somewhat irrelevant. One can agree or disagree with his philosophy and potential course of action. Missing from the entire discussion, however, is the fact that only a miniscule “middle class” exists in Argentina. As in other cultures, the term “middle class” is vague and imprecise. Yet, it is precisely the “middle class” and a functioning, private and governmental infrastructure that are two key elements that produced success in most of the world’s advanced nations. Despite relative growth in Gross Domestic Product, progress has often been stunted in nations replete with a large, wealthy land-owning class, especially in Latin or South America.





Although often disparagingly referred to as a “nation of shopkeepers,” England prospered from the times of Elizabeth I. It expanded most noticeably following the times of Adam Smith and other notable thinkers of the eighteenth century. It was the formation and expansion of the middle classes, its manufacturing base, and its financial acumen coupled with powerful colonial resources and inexpensive labor that propelled England through the centuries.Wealth filtered to the growing middle classes and a working infrastructure in England, as elsewhere in Europe, the United States and now in China and India. The phenomenon is evident world-wide.





A working country’s civil infrastructure does not have to be limited to roads and highways and other facilities, although the lack of these significantly impacts any nation in past or present centuries. Infrastructure can be expanded to include a society’s ability and willingness to provide communications and education, to banking or medical care, and to a general freedom from governmental bureaucracy to impede entrepreneurship and the production and distribution of goods and services.





Argentina may reasonably boast of a classic infrastructure. It certainly has thousands of kilometers of maintained roads and highways, developed airports and docks, and public utilities. It has been in the forefront of South American communications, banking and medical care. Many of those services are owned by foreign entities. Why? Because there does not exist a strong middle class to undertake entrepreneurial risks. The wealthy prefer to keep their capital outside the country, while the poor are too uneducated and have little, if any, capital.





In addition, Argentina’s general production and distribution of goods and services, domestically and internationally, are predominantly hampered by a vast and powerful bureaucracy that strives not for efficiency, but rather for patronage and continued employment.





Beyond infrastructure, a country’s perception and self-perception are equally as important. These factors may have even more influence on the state of a nation’s life than even the most advanced infrastructure. This self-perception and resultant philosophy may be often more responsible than the lack of certain economic amenities. It breeds a lack of concern and indifference on the part of the population, rather than active and positive work and competition and accomplishment.





Despite the brave political words and a rebound from the worst of economic shocks, default on its economic debt, Argentina still suffers from a markedly decreased optimism and a widening gap in confidence in government. Although Argentina has spent the last two decades free from civilian or military dictatorship, people’s attitudes change slowly. Partly, this lack of optimism and confidence stems from Argentina’s continuing practice of turning a largely blind eye to graft and corruption inside and outside of government.





One simple but painful indictor of festering problems stems from the fact that the Argentine government continually runs short of ordinary coins in circulation. This shortage does not stem from lack of materials from which to shape coins. Rather, it derives from a combination of a lack of confidence and graft. Recently, very small denominations starting with the peso coins were actually hoarded by the population. Incorrect as it may be, there is apparently more faith in coins than in paper money, not simply the opportunity to make three to five percent profit on hoarding and reselling small change. Taxi drivers and small kiosks repeatedly fail to have change available for the smallest of purchases for these reasons, as do government institutions like the post office or public utilities.





In an economy based largely on cash transactions, rather than checks, debit or credit cards or electronic banking, this attitude foreshadows only the tip of the iceberg of problems confronting the country. Argentina certainly has most of the necessary computer availability. Most large banks are well interconnected across the country.





However, “most of the people would not know how to deal with automated banking, like paying bills,” one source offered. While that lack may be ascribed in part to a poor educational system, it leaves wide open the door to engage in tax evasion and other forms of corruption. Inefficiency aside, long lines inside a bank branch ironically seem to be positive indicators of solvency, increases in cash and employment to the general populace. That image of illusory prosperity may persist if one ignores the beggars, including very young children, lining the streets asking for pesos. It does nothing for improving personal or national efficiency.





Remarkably, the majority of the population appears to tolerate the long lines and general inefficiency in the infrastructure with barely a sniffle. “Oh, it’s only Argentina,” one property-owning person suggested, trying to explain away whatever daily problems occurred, whether simple plumbing or a citywide taxi strike.





Whether the archaic social custom of closing businesses or schools for two to four hours at midday, or utility or other regular bills are invariably paid in person by cash, these and other customs may be quaint for the tourist, but they are inefficiencies that abound throughout the country.





Perhaps some of these inefficiencies are designed purposely to maintain and increase employment. Perhaps some are reminiscent of an older, more personable way of doing business. Some, perhaps, are steeped in traditions where efficiency counts much less than relaxation and which have resulted in the classic Latin “manana” epithet. Whatever the reason does not stand the country in good stead for its competitive position in a global economy against the materialistic leaders of the world.





Despite rampant inefficiency and visible poverty, many visitors or potential expatriates to Argentina expound at length on its inexpensive and perceived more relaxed, cultural way of life. Often, daily problems with infrastructure or the local population are dismissed by visitors with a shrugged shoulder. Many have to deal with neither. For a few Argentine pesos, hotel or short-term apartment staff can generally accommodate the transient visitor by shielding him from crime, corruption or inefficiency.





“Inexpensive” is certainly true of Argentina when compared to Europe or the United States or even many competing places in South America. This is most definitely true after the currency devaluation less than a decade ago. Spending Euros or American dollars at the official exchange rate easily permits one to overlook many of the vagaries of life in Argentina. Cheaper black market rates, readily obtained from mobile sellers on street corners, can make life even less expensive. Focusing on the natural beauty of Bariloche, the colonial architecture of Salta or the night life and its tango in Buenos Aires is a simple process for a transient visitor. Life in Argentina, however, is certainly not inexpensive for full-time residents, trying to eke out a living, even with a fairly decent job, any more than it would be in Lima or Santiago or Caracas.





Neither is life in this land of natural beauty any more or less “cultural” or more relaxed than in London, or Paris or New York for the permanent denizen of Argentina. From a tourist perspective, the quaint, small streets of Salta, bustling with humanity and traffic, may seem to be like a picturesque Hollywood movie film set. For the single mother of four, working as a part-time maid, however, everyday life is no easier than it is in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a cultural mecca in the United States.





Few except those with disposable income in Argentina neither know of an opera, been to an art exhibit, nor heard a live symphony concert. Many have not even made the lengthy trip to Buenos Aires from their particular village in the vast country. Much the same can be said, of course, of other nationalities who have never seen an art exhibit at the Louvre or Tate museums in France or London, attended a concert at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, nor seen a dance recital at the Bolshoi in Russia although they may have lived in the respective countries all their lives.





Much of Argentina’s mystique has been carefully and skillfully cultivated by the tourist boards. The image is, in turn, mindlessly nurtured and perpetuated by the casual traveler. Inefficiency becomes a more “relaxed” way of life, while a simple dance in the town square becomes “culture.”





More than simply dazzling the tourist with a broad-strokes display of natural beauty and a seemingly contented populace, Argentina seems more to cater to its well-to-do, short-term transients rather than to its own people. Fortunately, the transient visitor hardly ever sees the seething resentment boiling just below the surface veneer of smiles and politeness, nor the petty crime and bribery lurking at the next street corner or with the sales clerk at a local business.





Before its collapse, the ancient Roman Empire was known for its policy of “Bread and Circuses.” Certainly, Argentina seems to subscribe to that maxim. While the price of bread and other staples continues to escalate in local shops or supermarkets, Argentina tries to keep its citizens entertained by its “circuses” through its extensive television channels. There is no dearth of television offerings on its many cable channels, from chat programs to quiz shows, to sports and movies to keep the populace entertained.





Interesting, though, one can legitimately ask for whom the telecasts are intended. Certainly, soccer matches and other competitions draw great local viewing audiences whether on off-the-air stations or the Latin version of ESPN. So do various movie channels.





Yet, while nearly ninety percent of films aired are of American or British origin, most of these are in spoken in English, subtitled in Spanish. That may be wonderful for tourists or other foreigners whose first language is English and who choose to take the pose of a couch potato at night. Unfortunately, it does little for native Castellano speakers, let alone the local indigenous population whose command of Spanish is hazardous at best. Reading rapidly changing subtitles can hardly be conducive to learning English when it is far more interesting to see the action developing on the screen. Moreover, much of the population can ill afford the relatively modest charges for a television set or a cable hookup.





Maybe it is necessary to entertain the masses to keep them from exploding into chaos. Maybe such entertainment can offer a necessary respite to the everyday worker in whatever occupation. Maybe it allows a vicarious view of other cultures. Unfortunately, it may also breed envy and, worse, emulation of the violence so readily broadcast, especially by the modern fare of Hollywood’s output.





American television offerings of violence are hardly conducive to the youth of Argentina that easily succumbs to the greed or envy generated by the silver screen. Worse, it only underscores the lack of education in the classrooms. While Argentina may have the highest literacy rate in Latin and South America, according to most studies more than fifty percent of students fail to continue their education beyond the age of fourteen, the legal mandatory age for leaving school. Since education, including the college level, is free for students attending government-run schools and colleges, one may properly ask why such a large dropout rate exists.





Once again, the overall picture of Argentina is misleading. Despite the high literacy rate, the high dropout rate at an early age tells a different story. A recent Interamerican Development Bank report showed that the causes for a highly unequal outcome between Buenos Aires students and those of rural areas results from both lack of high quality of school facilities and lack of skilled teachers and instructors in rural areas. Moreover, even Buenos Aires, the capital city known for its university with nearly 140,000 students, is even more renowned for the more rapid growth and enrolment of students in private, rather than public schools.





Since education is but one all-important factor in Argentina’s development in the twenty-first century, one must clearly ask if the recent governments – even after the devaluation – are inclined to perpetuate the growing disparity between rich and poor, spelling certain doom for the nation as a whole. Yet that disparity is likely to increase if government lacks the will to change quality public education versus private education, such as in Buenos Aires and Cordoba or Mendoza.





Quality and success of education also derives from a myriad of social factors, many of which result from the disparity of income and the lack of a “middle class” in the historic sense. Argentina would be well warned by the young man’s quip that the country “needs a good war.” While no war from the Falklands to Iraq can ever be termed a “good war,” no matter who the perpetrators, a growing disparity between rich and poor in Argentina makes just such an exercise a probability, whether as an outright war or a disguised dictatorship. Bread and circuses or a lack of change are only preliminary indicators. Only the will and perception of the country’s people can make the difference.

Report FC Twente vs Tottenham

Draw sees Spurs top group Tottenham capped an unforgettable Champions League Group A campaign with another thriller as they secured top spot despite a 3-3 draw at FC Twente.
No matter how Harry Redknapp's men fare in the knockout stage, the manner in which they have gone about getting there is the stuff of Hollywood and it was no exception.
Needing to win to be certain of finishing above Inter Milan, Spurs led three times through a calamitous Peter Wisgerhof own goal and Jermain Defoe's first strikes since August.
Each advantage was quickly cancelled out, through a controversial twice-taken Denny Landzaat penalty and goals from Roberto Rosales and Nacer Chadli, but a draw proved enough as Inter lost at Werder Bremen.
Harry Redknapp kept to his word to field some fringe players, with Vedran Corluka making his first appearance for more than two months and Niko Kranjcar handed a rare start, while there were recalls for the fit-again Jermaine Jenas and Roman Pavlyuchenko.
Despite performing heroics in their maiden season in the competition, Tottenham had not recorded an away victory and Dutch champions Twente had lost only once at home in more than a year.
And although already assured a Europa League spot, they had not forgotten September's controversial 4-1 defeat at White Hart Lane.
They certainly began like they were out for vengeance, Wout Brama's volley forcing an acrobatic parry from Heurelho Gomes and Theo Janssen curling a free-kick narrowly over.
But they shot themselves in the foot in spectacular fashion in the 12th minute when 40-year-old goalkeeper Sander Boschker produced a near air shot on Wisgerhof's backpass and watched in horror as the ball span into the net.
The moment was celebrated by a pocket of Spurs fans Twente had housed near their own supporters, sparking a furious response from some behind the goal.
They were much happier 10 minutes later as the hosts levelled in circumstances almost as bizarre as saw them concede.
Rosales hit a rocket of a volley that smashed into Benoit Assou-Ekotto - and against his arm, according to referee Carlos Velasco Carballo, who pointed to the spot.
Landzaat beat Gomes to his right but Velasco Carballo ordered a retake, which the midfielder put straight down the middle.
There was more woe for Spurs when Jenas went down with what appeared a recurrence of his calf problem.
He took his time leaving the field, giving the referee little option but to book him, meaning the midfielder will be suspended for the last-16 first leg.
Aaron Lennon eventually came on to replace him for the final 10 minutes of the half, with Kranjcar moving into the middle.
Twente might have taken the lead four minutes before the break after Marc Janko shanked a shot wide when Wisgerhof was much better placed.
But Defoe also flicked over the top with the final kick of the half after a trademark run and cross from Gareth Bale.
The striker put Spurs back ahead within two minutes of the restart after Douglas failed to clear Bale's cross.
Lennon pounced with a delightful reverse pass which Defoe coolly clipped over Boschker.
Chadli flicked a corner too close to Gomes, though it was looking good for Spurs as Werder Bremen took a 2-0 lead in their game with Inter.
Yet again though, Tottenham's advantage lasted barely 10 minutes as Twente equalised in the 56th minute when Rosales bulleted a header past Gomes from Janssen's cross.
This time parity lasted only three minutes as Wilson Palacios won the ball inside the Twente half, raced clear and saw his shot parried straight to Defoe, who made no mistake on the rebound.
Chadli then made it three goals in eight minutes with a stunning 25-yard free-kick as the home side incredibly equalised for a third time.
They nearly took the lead for the first time in the 70th minute, Brama's curler forcing a fine save from Gomes, who was then almost caught out by Janssen's near-post corner.
Both sides made a change when Dario Vujicevic came on for Janko and Robbie Keane replaced Pavlyuchenko.
Twente almost scored a second own goal when Douglas deflected Bale's low cross against the post.
Kranjcar hobbled off with four minutes remaining to be replaced by Peter Crouch and there was an ugly finish to the game after Spurs refused to kick the ball out following an injury to Luuk de Jong.

Youth Basketball Success Secrets - No 2

There are basketball success secrets that are being used daily by today's greatest players. The good news is young players can incorporate many of these secrets into their game with a little effort. In this article I'll reveal one that you and your child can observe for yourselves by simply watching a game together.

Communication

The best basketball players are masters in the art of communicating on the court. It is what allows them to control every aspect of each possession, and helps them place themselves in the best position for success. There are three types of communication you'll need to perfect before you can get your basketball 'Masters of Communication'.

Verbal

Isn't it amazing how kids can't seem to stop talking until you need them to? Every coach knows talking is an essential part of becoming a good defensive basketball team. Team defense is all about providing support for your teammates, and making them aware of where you are in relationship to the player with the ball. This helps them defend better and smarter. In addition, telling your teammate that you are in position to provide help may also keep your opponents off balance in their offensive execution by letting them know that you are in position and ready to help should they try running a play in your direction.

But talking is also where the best offensive players shine, from shouting out instructions to teammates that are in the wrong position, letting a rebounder know where they are so they can receive the outlet pass to start a fastbreak, letting the ball handler know they're open and ready to shoot, asking for or letting a teammate know a screen is needed or available to use, offering acknowledgment for a great pass, or simply offering words of encouragement to teammates, great players know that by talking their teammates know that they are ready and aware of everything going on out on the court, which will usually result in their teammates looking to get them the ball at some point in each offensive possession.

Non-Verbal

Watch a great offensive player and you'll notice that when they are ready to receive a pass they will show the player with the ball exactly where they want the ball thrown to them by raising the hand in which they want to receive the ball. You'll also notice they won't get themselves in position to receive the ball until the player with the ball is in position to pass it to them. This is why some lesser players get frustrated and complain they never get the ball even though they work real hard to get open. They don't understand it's the timing of when you get open, not the fact that you are open that will determine if you get the ball.

Great players understand this, which is why they always seem to have the ball in their hands, which is why they score so many points.

Subtle

This is where great players stand apart from their fellow players; they understand the art of the subtle non-verbal form of communication. The raised eyebrow, the slight head movement, that millisecond of eye contact that provides more information than a 20 minute conversation, all of these acts give the great player the slight advantage they need to be successful game after game. Granted you need heady teammates to be aware of the cues you're sending to them, but the great player's train their teammates to recognize these cues, because after all not every player is a true student of the game.

The Bottom Line

When it all comes down to it becoming a great player requires that you become a student of the game. That you understand and recognize opportunities before everyone else on the court.

How do you get this knowledge? Can you be taught these skills? You can gain this knowledge, and be taught the necessary skills, but the real question is; will you put in the necessary time and work needed to make yourself a great player?

The Basics of Exercise

Exercise is an essential part of living a healthy life. It provides tremendous benefit to your entire body, as well as your mind. Exercise is incredible for helping overcome depressions and self confidence issues. It is also a wonderful way to feel as if you are accomplishing something. A great way to relieve stress and anxiety, it is also a key to weight control. Exercise is extremely important for your general well being and cardiovascular health. It is also a great way to prevent diseases, such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Regular exercise helps build a strong immune system. Having a strong immune system means the body is better prepared to fight external germs and diseases with great efficiency.

There are two primary forms of exercises: aerobic and anaerobic.

Aerobic

Aerobic endurance exercises generally refers to long-term activities which rely primarily on the oxidative energy pathway. These involves continuous activity that is long in duration but low in intensity, allowing the body to replenish needed oxygen. It involves continuous and rhythmic physical motion, such as walking and bicycling. During aerobic exercises,the muscles draw on oxygen in the blood as well as fats and glucose increasing cardiovascular endurance. Aerobic activities include walking, jogging, swimming, biking, ballroom dancing, aerobic classes, etc. Aerobic exercise done for 45-60 minutes a day help in working out the large muscle group. It is ideal for beginners to build on their strength and stamina. Aerobic exercises are also less strenuous on the joints and muscles.

Anaerobic

Anaerobic exercises generally refers to short term endurance capacity which relies mainly on anaerobic energy pathways. Anaerobic exercise is essentially exercise without oxygen. Activities that many people enjoy include: yoga, pilates, weight training and other choices. Anaerobic exercise is where the body is exercising at such a rate that the blood stream cannot supply oxygen to muscles fast enough. It burns more fat than aerobic exercises. Therefore, it is ideal for fat and weight loss. These include short-term exercise lasting usually less than a minute before lactate and hydrogen ions bring muscle activity to a halt. Football, Basketball, Rugby, Hockey and Soccer are all examples of anaerobic sports. Among these (HIIT) short form for high intensity interval training has gained a lot of popularity in recent times. HIIT allows you to spend a long cumulative time in an anaerobic state by alternating high intensity activities with periods of rest and recovery. This includes a warm up followed by sprinting for 30 seconds and walking or jogging for 1 minute. Depending on fitness level the duration and intensity may vary from person to person.

Exercise is definitely not a waste of time. It is beneficial when done in the right amounts and in the right way. Once you begin to exercise regularly, you will discover many more reasons why exercise is so important to improving the quality of your life. Exercise not only is good for you, but it also helps you feel great. If you exercise enough, you will help your mental psyche improve, as well as increase your energy level.

The similarity in all these all activities is laziness in being physically active. But apart from becoming lethargic, such activities cause a hindrance to us using our feet. Our feet are designed by nature to run, hop, jog, sprint and take a stroll, which a majority of us just don't use well enough. So when our youth is spent in being couch potatoes, old age eventually could lead to the feet not being strong enough to carry the increased weight. And then people start complaining of all pain in the joints and muscles.

It is vital to optimize the usage of your feet during your youth. After all, childhood is best spent in running around in the park and being physically active all the time. The best way is to do it barefoot. Take a look at the structure of the human foot; it is designed by nature to run in without any "protection" from shoes. The majority of contemporary running shoes aren't prepared for running naturally with no damage. They are fashioned with the erroneous idea that people fall on the heels and with a requirement for some false machination to soak up the shock as the heel hit next to the ground. To take a leap in barefoot running, start to walk in slow motion first so that you are able to get the feel of the ground. This will allow your feet to get accustomed to walking or running on the irregular, jagged surfaces of twigs, rocks, sand and even dirt. Once exhausted, you can try walking on a golf course or on the grass in the park to refresh and soothe the feet muscles. Be careful while treading barefoot. Unlike your ancestors you never ran barefoot in the fields did you? So take it slow and make barefoot running a gradual hobby instead of an abrupt one. It just takes around a year.

Fitness Nutrition - Essential Information You Ought to Know About

You've all heard that regular exercise and a healthy diet are part and parcel of staying fit. However, it seems that the idea of fitness nutrition is, more often than not, subordinate to exercise. They only wreck havoc on your normal body processes. Eating healthy means eating the right amounts from all food groups in small portions five to six times a day. This also means not skipping breakfast. When your mother nearly force-feeds you to eat this most important meal of the day, she wasn't kidding. If you don't eat, you're starving your body and preparing it to snack on more sugar-rich and unhealthy junk later in the day.

What if you do feel the need to snack during the day? Opt for fresh fruits like bananas, pears or apples. They're chock full of fiber, vitamins and minerals. Yogurt is also a good alternative. Not only is it rich in calcium and protein, it also has live Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria that's good for the digestive system as well.

Does that mean that all fast food is off-limits? That would be ideal? However, it's not necessarily a no-no for as long as you watch your portions and you don't do it often. But where soda is concerned, you'd do best to avoid it with your cheeseburger meal. Ask for water instead. Fruit juice? Unless you squeeze it from the fruit itself, forget it. Processed juiced drinks have more sugar than juice and you're better off with pure water.

Fitness nutrition also means minding how you eat. It's chewing your food well and taking the time to enjoy your meal for at least 20 minutes. It's eating when you're hungry, not because you're stressed or emotionally upset. It's stopping when you're already full. Finally, eating for health also means learning healthier ways of preparing foods. You need to learn how to cook foods through steaming and stir-frying instead of deep frying them. It also means stocking your pantry with healthful foods.

Eat healthy. Live healthy. That's the real essence of fitness nutrition.
